Can Your Lake House Say “Cheese” ?

When considering the option of putting your home on the market for sale, there are so many things to consider.

One of the most important items is “Curb Appeal”. Most homes are viewed from the street only and not the back yard. But when you have a lake home, your home has to say “Cheese” from two directions.

As REALTORS®️, we always talk about curb appeal and how important those first seconds are in determining whether a buyer will maintain or even have any interest in the seller’s home. When you are on a lake you have viewers that drive by car and those that drive by in a boat. That means your lake house that is for sale must be picture perfect from the lake as well.

Just like you would put a bright pot of flowers next to your front door, you will want to think about how to dress up your dock area. Besides a nice planter, you should consider a large outdoor storage container to keep the lake toys neatly put away. Stage your lawn chairs when not using them to give an inviting nod to your property. Keep your grass cut and trimmed and bushes trimmed back. Are there any dead branches on trees that should be removed or any low hanging branches to be trimmed away?

Is it time to paint or stain the deck? Is the back entry door freshly painted and are the sliding glass doors squeaky clean?

Yes, it is sometimes difficult to keep up with things at the lake when you also trying to enjoy the lake house before you hand over the keys.
